You can visit this site for news on immigration, including recent changes, information on immigrating to the United States, the different options that are available and all applicable forms. In addition to this, they allow you to check the status of your existing case, you can find your nearest USCIS office and can even schedule an appointment.   2. The United States Department of State – Bureau of Consular Affairs offers extensive information for all visas. On their website, you will find the different types of visas, the specific requirements and how to get started. You’ll also find information about being an international student, adopting an international child and international travel. They have alerts and warnings, along with written pieces to help you stay up to date on what’s going on. If you need to find a U.S. Embassy or Consulate, they have all locations listed.   3. The American Immigration Lawyers Association primarily serves lawyers, but has a website that is useful to the public. They provide information on immigration as a whole, materials about current immigration issues and tips on the various processes. AILA is a nonpartisan, not-for-profit organization that provides continuing legal education and general information to lawyers as well as the community. Find out more at http://aila.org.

The lack of legal representation significantly impacts the processes and the outcomes.
